This year, thanks to the incredible team at Traci Connell Interiors, my Sculptural Fibres collaboration with Thomas Hayes was included in their “Martini Muse” inspired pool bath and bar design for the 2021 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas.

If you aren’t familiar with the Kips Bay Decorator Show House, each year a home is redesigned to showcase creative designers, while benefitting the Boys and Girls Club of America through ticket sales. This year, the Show House was in my hometown of Dallas, TX. The Preston Hollow home was on the market earlier this year when Kip’s Bay purchased it and began selecting designers from around the country. Each firm has approximately two months to design the room, secure the materials, curate the artwork, chose furniture and complete their installations.

Traci Connell Interiors, an award winning interior design firm based in Dallas was given the pool bath space and held nothing back in taking this space to an elevated level of texture, color and luxury. Traci and her team transformed the small space by adding an arched wall to create a hallway effect. This allowed them to design two separate spaces in one: a pool bar complete with soft textured wallpaper, a gorgeous curved bench and incredible bar accessories. The bathroom area included a neutral, undyed pair of my Sculptural Fibres in the design, along with commissioned artwork from Katherine Corden. I visited the showhouse this week to see the space in person. I was blown away by the level of detail and thoughtfulness Traci and her team brought to the project. It was a pleasure to see the vision come to life and my latest artwork installed!

“For 47 years, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club has celebrated the best of interior design by transforming a luxury Manhattan home into an elegant exhibition of fine furnishings, art, and technology. This all began in 1973 when several dedicated supporters of Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club launched the Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Manhattan to raise critical funds for much needed after school and enrichment programs for New York City children. For more than four decades, the Show House has been a must-see event for thousands of design enthusiasts, renowned for sparking interior design trends throughout the world.

In 2017, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club expanded the brand to Palm Beach, with the fourth iteration of the Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show House taking place in April 2021.

The tremendous success generated by the Palm Beach Show House had Kips Bay once again expand their market, launching the Inaugural and extremely successful Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Dallas, Texas in the fall of 2020.” -Courtesy https://www.kipsbaydecoratorshowhouse.org

HOW IT STARTED

In July 2021, Veranda Magazine announced the list of designers selected to bring the Kips Bay Dallas Show House to life. I reached out to Traci Connel Interiors and shared a sneak peek of my latest “Sculptural Fibres” collaboration with Thomas Hayes. She replied immediately with interest in incorporating the work into her design for the September install. She shared a few renderings of the project with me and I was thrilled to see her vision for the space and a way for my artwork to be included in this special project.

I had been eyeing Lauren’s art for some time, and when we created a long focal space in our design that was perfectly centered in an archway, I knew her collection would be the only art I’d ever want for this space!! The texture the fibres provides is the perfect complement to our texture-heavy space and the modern application of the brass pieces offset the symmetry for a piece that was made for this room!

Other areas of the house I loved were the kitchen designed by Studio 6F, the master bath designed by Brant McFarlian Design, and the basement lounge designed by Janet Gridley.

You can view their designs, along with the other 22 spaces, in the slideshow. Each space was creatively and uniquely crafted with the highest quality products and accessories to showcase the ultimates in interior and landscape design.

The Kips Bay Dallas Showhouse is open to the public until October 24th, and you can purchase your tickets here.
