Lauren Williams creates original, commissioned fiber and textile artwork for collectors, interior designers, art advisors, architects, galleries, and hospitality and commercial spaces.

Each commission is developed in response to its environment. Scale, proportion, color, material, light, and architecture are considered together to create a work that feels inherently connected to the space it will occupy.

A Work Created for Your Space

A commission offers the opportunity to acquire an original Lauren Williams artwork created specifically for your project.

Williams’ practice includes large scale textile art, sculptural fiber installations, and dimensional works incorporating hand dyed fibers, brass, chrome, acrylic, and other architectural materials. Commissions may be developed from her ongoing bodies of work, including Canvas with Movement, Refined Canvas, Columns, and Squares & Strands.

The process may begin with a particular series, a wall requiring artwork of a specific scale, an established interior palette, or simply an emotional direction for the space. Williams interprets these elements through her own visual language, creating a work that is personal to the setting while remaining distinctly hers.

Every commissioned artwork is original. Rather than reproducing an existing piece, Williams uses previous work as a point of reference while allowing the composition, materials, and movement of the new work to develop individually.

The Commission Process

1. Initial Inquiry

To begin, please submit the inquiry form below with information about your project. Helpful details include the installation location, approximate wall dimensions, desired series, preferred palette, project timeline, and any relevant photographs, elevations, renderings, or material samples.

2. Studio Review

The studio will review the project and respond with additional questions or recommendations. When appropriate, Williams may suggest a particular scale, configuration, material, or body of work based on the architecture and visual needs of the space.

3. Creative Direction

Once the scope of the commission has been established, the studio will develop a proposed direction for the artwork. This may include dimensions, materials, palette references, placement considerations, and other details specific to the selected series.

Williams welcomes context and collaboration while retaining the creative freedom necessary to make each work original. Natural variations in dye, fiber, material, movement, and finish are integral to the artwork and to the character of a handmade piece.

4. Creation and Installation

After the commission is approved, the artwork enters the studio schedule. Production timing is determined by the scale, materials, complexity, and installation requirements of the work.

The studio will provide guidance regarding delivery and installation. For large scale or architecturally integrated projects, the studio can coordinate with designers, contractors, installers, and other members of the project team as needed.

Residential, Hospitality, and Commercial Commissions

Williams’ work has been commissioned for private residences, designer led interiors, hotels, restaurants, retail environments, and commercial spaces throughout the United States and internationally.

Large scale commissions can be developed for living rooms, dining rooms, entryways, stairwells, two story walls, hotel lobbies, guest rooms, restaurants, boutiques, and other architecturally significant spaces.

Trade professionals are invited to inquire on behalf of their clients. The studio can work from photographs, plans, elevations, renderings, finish samples, and project presentations to develop artwork in conversation with thewider interior.
