Rachel Carosiello and Anne Marie Ryan, co-founders of The Modern Vintage Home based in Moorsetown, New Jersey started in the design world without knowing each other. Through a series of entrepreneurial evolutions, they have been working together since 2014 and launched their design firm as partners in 2018.

The Modern Vintage Home believes in long term design value and making your home your favorite place to be.

There is no greater compliment than when an interior designer chooses my artwork for their personal residence and I was honored when both Rachel and Anne Marie selected my work when designing their own homes.

How did you two meet and what led you to designing interiors together?

Rachel: I actually opened a boutique furniture store so I could expand my design business by sourcing great product directly and potentially also service a retail customer. Ann Marie worked in North Jersey in another design firm and when she moved south we found each other through a friend. We worked together in the store for about 4 years and then decided to focus more on design and less on retail and become partners. So we moved to our current space in our hometown, Moorestown, New Jersey and have never looked back. Our retail experience gave us invaluable tools for sourcing and formed so many great lasting partnerships with our vendors. Having those relationships and intimately knowing the product is so important in our designs. Our partnership has been such a blessing in our lives. We have become such close friends and our design styles marry perfectly! We are both so grateful to be able to do what we love with someone we love.

What elements define your design aesthetic and do you have a signature style that differentiates you from other firms?

What we feel differentiates us from other firms is our wide range of design styles. We feel what we do best is that we really understand our clients and make their home feel like them. We have designed spaces from modern to traditional and everything in between. We really enjoy exploring all different styles and mixing them together as well!

You’ve sourced four pieces of my Art into your design projects over the years. Rachel included MY “Black and Gold” artwork in the design of her basement and Anne Marie included “Cast Iron” in her kitchen. There is no greater compliment for me than when an interior designer chooses MY artwork for their personal home. How did these pieces fit into the projects and what drew you to my work for the designs?

Ever since we first discovered your work, we have been so excited any time we can put it in a project! When we were designing our own homes, we both definitely wanted her art included. The thing we love about using your art is that not only does it bring in beautiful design, it adds texture, and that changes everything!

on your website, You quote “Done is beautiful. Places matter. Math is easy…design is hard.”

As designers, how do you keep your clients engaged and focused on the finish line during a project to get to “DONE”?

That’s a really good question. Every client is so different, but we think we get so excited about each project as we design it we hope that rubs off on them and keeps them engaged. It is really important that it is a collaboration so they will always feel comfortable and love their home for years to come.

Tell us about what it is like to be where you are right now in your career and what’s next for The Modern Vintage Home?

We have been getting so much buzz lately we are very excited to see what is in store for us! Our partnership is much more than just business and we really enjoy working together! We have some really exciting projects coming up that we can’t wait to share.

We believe in long term design value, which we help you achieve by selecting high quality pieces combined with unique and timeless design.
